On the 18th
March we had a special lunch at school – Greek cuisine. Greece is one of our
partners’ countries at the Comenius Project “Today’s European” and we decided
to show its cuisine to our school community.
In the
Comenius Club, students surf the Net and found out that Greece has an ancient culinary tradition dating back several
millennia.
Many dishes are part of the larger tradition of Ottoman cuisine and their names reveal Arabic, Persian or
Turkish roots.
Greek cuisine is a Mediterranean cuisine and makes wide use of olive oil,
vegetables and herbs, grains and bread, wine, fish, and various meats, including lamb, poultry, rabbit and pork. Also important are olives, cheese, eggplant (aubergine), zucchiniy (courgette), and yogurt. Greek desserts are characterized by the dominant use of nuts and
honey. Some dishes use filo pastry.
From its rich
cuisine we decided to present this menu:

During
all week the Comenius Corner showed different cultural information about
Greece.
To make this
lunch possible our Club Comenius team worked together with the teachers from
the Program PES (Program for School Health), the Social School Service and the
canteen staff.
We are preparing
a Polish lunch to be held in the 3rd term. We hope it could be as enjoyable as
this one.
